The most remarkable person I’ve ever known

It’s been a while since I last shared something but I’ve just been absolutely overwhelmed with life, love and learning that I don’t know where to start.

Today however, I’m crystal.

I’m dying to take a paragraph or five, to talk about the most remarkable person I’ve ever known and will most likely ever know - Chelsea.

Many of you don’t know me beneath the many layers I’ve hidden behind my whole life, but I’ve lived with a tremendous burden of feeling unwanted, unnoticed, insignificant, unloveable and incredibly alone. I thought meeting a smart, beautiful and talented girl, and wearing her down and eventually tricking her to marry me, would bandage over all of the areas of brokenness, and give me the feeling of “security” and “worth” I’d always desperately craved. Wrong again Joshua Wong.

Turns out that God had far bigger things to teach me, change me and bless me through a girl named Chelsea, who walk with me for the next 7 years showing me, not just how much she could love me in ways I didn’t know that were a) realistic, b) possible, or c) crucial for a healthy and rich life.

Since the day she said “I Do”, she’s shown not just what it is to be loved, but more importantly how to love myself and understand that it’s my God-born right to be loved and cherished. She’s shown me that I can be weak or strong, I can be still or busy, I can be effective or pretty ridiculously useless, and it’s the not the currency that her love is invested in.

We’ve made the tough and incredible decision to fight for our love and unity, even when we don’t want to. That is the ONLY love worth wanting, having and believing in.

And now, as the mother of the other best love I’ve ever known; as the the daughter-in-law to my parents with whom I’m growing closer to every week and month; and wife to a husband who goes through the highest of highs, and absolute lowest of lows in life (far far more often than anyone could imagine).

Through it all, she’s not stayed the same, but has grown, matured, excelled, exceeded all expectations and continues to show me what love is. Love is sticking, staying, striving and celebrating whenever and whatever we can on this insane thing called Marriage.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not being flippant and saying any of this is easy - but ‘easy’ never gives you the best in life, and that’s exactly what I have - THE BEST.

Thank you Chelsea.
